MR PENFOLD - GRAPHICAL HOUSE
In July 2019 we brought 6783 sq public art to the streets of Leeds in collaboration with Mr Penfold and supported by King and Co Leeds. The work was completed in just 7 days in weather of every season.
When King and Co Leeds approached us with the project at Graphical House we knew that we needed create a new landmark for Leeds and that it needed to be big and bold. Mr Penfold was the first artist that sprang to our minds with his trademark style of colour, pattern and texture.
Penfold hails from Cambridge, England, and currently living in Bristol. He works as an artist and designer showing his work all over the world.
Over the last 8 years he has developed a very distinctive way of working and a range of imagery that is unmistakable. He has a distinctive and recognisable palette and formulated a set of conditions he applies to his work. Graphical House is now informally known as #PenfoldManor

We had a canvas but having little to no experience in this area we turned to our friends behind In Good Company.
They’d worked for years on both civic and private projects to bring art and colour to the city’s public realm. Their work was done in the right way and for the right reasons. We knew we could place our absolute trust in them to deliver something amazing.
We didn’t have a brief but we discussed with In Good Company that we wanted to achieve a change in attitudes so the art needed to be a statement. We handed over all creative license. We didn’t want to confuse the creative process or let our own personal preferences influence the artist.
